I still feel that there is too much contrast with the darker blue and if I was doing it again (which I probably won't!) I would choose colours that are closer so it would all blend together better. Still I'm happy I persevered and completed it. My mother-in-law suggested I enter it in our Village Fête competition next month. I have never done that before but I think I might, just for fun - and to promote the art of tatting as I have never seen any tatting being exhibited at the Fête before.
Best wishes,
I love it just the way it is! The variations of color help to accentuate the design elements. I give this beautiful doily a standing ovation!
ReplyDeleteWell, personally the only thing I'D change is NOTHING. Beautiful. Now if you don't like it you could always give it to me!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's so gorgeous. I LOVE the colors, like Diane says, the colors accentuate the elements!
ReplyDeleteI'm with your mother-in-law, do enter in the Village Fête, it's such a stunner, people will really notice.
And congratulations on finishing!
Oh, great job!!! I love the colors.
ReplyDeleteFrivole, it is simply marvellous! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI would definitely think this is fête-worthy! That would be fun! And educational for non-tatters, and you would be so proud of yourself! Go for it!
Fox : )
ps I LOVE the colours!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Like what the rest have said before me, there is nothing to change in the colours used. They blend together very nicely.
ReplyDeletePlease let us know the outcome of the Fête re the doily.
This is an absolute beauty! And your perseverence certainly paid off! FABULOUS work, enter the Village Fête!
ReplyDeleteReally love the colors...I think they are perfect, your daily is beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the contrast provided by the darker and lighter threads and the variation in colors. It is definitely worth entering in competition.
ReplyDeleteWow! That's spectacular. I love the colours too - and it's all so neat! You should definitely enter it to the fete.
ReplyDeleteI think the colors are beautiful! I have not completed anything this size - your perseverance has really paid off. And here I am struggling to finish a fairly small little doily. Sheesh! Your work is absolutely gorgeous.

Wow, it's lovely to have so much feedback! Thanks so much for your comments everyone.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking to make a pause after completing this larger piece.... but I already find I'm itching to get going on the next thing! What is it with this tatting?? I can't seem to be able to leave it alone!
Ah, you're addicted too! Beautiful doily and congrats on finishing this piece. I hope you do enter it i the Village Fete.
ReplyDeleteOh my!!! That is the highlight of my crazy day!!! It's so awesome!!!! Thanks for showing it! :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I love the contrast with the dark blue, it really sets off the elements in the doily, much as a stained glass art pops with the black outlines.

ReplyDeleteWow, this is a spectacular piece of work! I really like how you combined the colors with the design.
ReplyDeleteWahou! Une oeuvre d'art ! Je suis toujours impressionnée par la régularité de tes ouvrages.
ReplyDeleteMerci Julie! :-)
DeleteThank you so much to everyone - this piece is now permanently displayed in my home and I enjoy it very much. It usually has a small vase of flowers or a candle on it and lives on the chest of drawers as you come into our house.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors......I did it in white and looking back wish I would have been brave and used colors.....looks really good :) Congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteI know it's been a while (like... ten years ago ) since you questioned this colour combination but I just came across this post and simply couldn't leave without writing a comment.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your colour combination! I have both of Jan Stawasz' books and I was wondering how I could have not noticed such a beautiful design. I've just looked through the first book and it turns out, the original colours are so much not my taste that I haven't noticed the beauty of the design itself! I'm so happy that you've decided to finish this piece - after seeing your pictures I'm adding this one to my 'to make' list .
Best wishes!
