I'm so glad and really appreciate every single one of your answers. I apologise if I don't respond to each individually but for some reason Blogger has become incredibly slow at loading! When I want to respond to comments, it takes ages to load up the response box and then more ages to load up my answer so sometimes I just give up. Does anyone have that problem who's on Blogger also? Not sure why it has changed as this never was a problem until a few months ago.</p><p>I removed comment moderation but straight away started received spam again! Grrrrrr. So I'm afraid I'll have to re-instate it... and this time will try to remember to go approve comments when they come in! (Silly me).</p><p>Now, you've seen these earrings on several occasions as it is one of my favourite pattern to make as a gift (and for myself because I also have several pairs in different colours). I made this pair for my son's girlfriend, the colour is "Maple Syrup" which I couldn't resist buying as I'm such a maple fan! And the shade was just in her colour palette.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixF0MmHvclfBchrh7IW3z6slD_eHMpzdmRij3848Hjhk3Xv1f01i4zvYiYdP0NdOmiIO7leMnJ70rXI9NuwSWg85nwR-uvxV5OVzSmqjy2W4DgkB50yoR2xBn0X-R0fYVyzxpqWmjdrdgi45QuNoAX-Lf9hBtkOeyczdO26TBwwu_2pjCtzYu_73ZGeBA/s1280/IMG_0197%20(1).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1039" data-original-width="1280" height="325" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixF0MmHvclfBchrh7IW3z6slD_eHMpzdmRij3848Hjhk3Xv1f01i4zvYiYdP0NdOmiIO7leMnJ70rXI9NuwSWg85nwR-uvxV5OVzSmqjy2W4DgkB50yoR2xBn0X-R0fYVyzxpqWmjdrdgi45QuNoAX-Lf9hBtkOeyczdO26TBwwu_2pjCtzYu_73ZGeBA/w400-h325/IMG_0197%20(1).jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I've not tatted any bigger projects for a while now so I hope you don't mind seeing the little ones I manage to make here and there. Now I've found them and know where I went wrong... and yes, it was all me! Don't activate comment moderation and then forget about it is the lesson! I've now de-activated it but I'm still getting spam so may have to re-instate it. Hopefully when/if I do so again, I won't forget to go check my comments and approve them!</p><p>Thank you so much to all of you who write comments on my posts. I really appreciate it and am relieved to know that people are still visiting. Phew!</p><p>Here is a pair of <a href="https://janemactats.blogspot.com/2015/12/pattern-for-dewdrop-earrings.html" target="_blank">Dewdrop earrings, pattern by Jane McLellan</a> which you can find <a href="https://janemactats.blogspot.com/2015/12/pattern-for-dewdrop-earrings.html" target="_blank">here</a>. Jane answered my post about her "go-to" pattern so I decided to make a pair. Really lovely. Could be made with variations and endless colour choices of course. I see I'll be making some of these for friends too.</p><p>Don't look too closely as I slightly messed up the top ring where it joins to the finding but I know where I went wrong so the next pair will be better. I like patterns like these where you can quickly whip up a pair, especially when you want to match an outfit for example or make a gift for a friend.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFQPGLRpZ8B6ol4MXiE5v_YLoTgAeHDVsEAQGpGKIEyD1n4EC89NW4QOcXD9-nx4_xifKUBHEzyP3LzalKfQFoBEsAFzR-Oxnkw5UxqC3hAztfupdGUP_ydvdz0ZYIzX7_P23RuNtKAJ7kMfI6mDpBGM07yOfRYC2Biw1JCy_GjWLkQFrb2ciag-vQ6rA/s1280/IMG_0021%20(1).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1280" data-original-width="960" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFQPGLRpZ8B6ol4MXiE5v_YLoTgAeHDVsEAQGpGKIEyD1n4EC89NW4QOcXD9-nx4_xifKUBHEzyP3LzalKfQFoBEsAFzR-Oxnkw5UxqC3hAztfupdGUP_ydvdz0ZYIzX7_P23RuNtKAJ7kMfI6mDpBGM07yOfRYC2Biw1JCy_GjWLkQFrb2ciag-vQ6rA/w300-h400/IMG_0021%20(1).jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Best wishes,</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="color: #93c47d; font-family: georgia;"><b><i>Frivole</i></b></span></div><p></p>Frivolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10318670621310820581noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6114660986925655424.post-13077673991952199742024-01-30T00:22:00.003+00:002024-02-01T10:53:28.494+00:00Not Able to Comment?<p>Ok, I'm starting to worry... it's two blogposts in a row that have not received any comments at all. Of course, it may be that they were not interesting and no one wanted to write anything but it still seems a bit strange to me.</p><p>Would some of you reading this (I hope some of you are!) kindly try to write a comment and if it doesn't work, could you email me at <span style="color: #8e7cc3;"><b>frivole*at*btinternet.com</b></span> and let me know please? I'd really appreciate it.</p><p><br /></p><p style="text-align: center;">And here's a little tatting image to decorate this blogpost.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEguEf6i9yGXUCs0bsJPC8GKRMpz5kn4CBQ4GmKMwXteZpHbSjVOJvI4VMudEwhSAJEU2ebH9Ib0IXxdBxWM070yDUrx_mmkcmF90l8Rplplsway0_AQfPuuhIqYTDaV-s_Hu7ZYkLsQQW9PJn3hfeR8ixLo4shSrhocblzn2zQPkGXJ0MTWA6tEBGcOJgA" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="2225" data-original-width="2284" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEguEf6i9yGXUCs0bsJPC8GKRMpz5kn4CBQ4GmKMwXteZpHbSjVOJvI4VMudEwhSAJEU2ebH9Ib0IXxdBxWM070yDUrx_mmkcmF90l8Rplplsway0_AQfPuuhIqYTDaV-s_Hu7ZYkLsQQW9PJn3hfeR8ixLo4shSrhocblzn2zQPkGXJ0MTWA6tEBGcOJgA" width="246" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p style="text-align: center;">Thank you very much!</p><p style="text-align: left;"><span style="color: #8e7cc3;"><b>UPDATE 31.01: Thank you very much everyone who has taken the time to write me emails and commented - it's working again! It's true I had changed the settings a few months ago for moderation because I was getting so much spam. I've now changed them back and hopefully the spam won't come back too soon. I feel rather silly that I had changed comment moderation (due to too much spam) and promptly forgot to go check on blogger to approve them! So it's all my fault, I can't even blame technology for this one. I have now removed comment moderation but see that I already have spam coming back in so I may have to leave it on (sorry as I know it's a bit annoying to deal with). I'll leave it off a while longer but if it gets too bad, I'll have to start moderating again. Hopefully this time, I won't forget to go approve comments so they appear on my blog! </span></span></p><div style="text-align: left;">Best wishes,</div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="color: #8e7cc3; font-family: georgia;"><span style="caret-color: rgb(142, 124, 195);"><b><i>Frivole</i></b></span></span></div>Frivolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10318670621310820581noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6114660986925655424.post-6774875347545173032024-01-25T15:38:00.001+00:002024-01-25T18:42:23.762+00:00D*i*amond Earrings<p>I hope people still enjoy reading blogs?... Or are they now "passé"? What is your favourite platform to view craft content? </p><p>I recently made a new video on how to tat these <a href="https://youtu.be/G65_fJHJrNk" target="_blank">easy d*i*amond earrings</a> (I'm adding the asterisks because last time I posted about such <a href="https://youtu.be/G65_fJHJrNk" target="_blank">earrings</a> a few years ago, I got so many spam comments!), you can view it <a href="https://youtu.be/G65_fJHJrNk" target="_blank">here</a>. Crochet Wrist Warmers<p>I was away visiting my family for a couple of weeks. While there I saw in a shop a nice (very expensive) sweater made in crochet (with knitted cuffs and collar) and I really liked the stitch. I took a photo and here is my take on the stitch. I was just making a small sample which works better in the round because of the two colours and then I thought... this would make a nice pair of wrist warmers! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfWI2c8NNU0-QkRHK1P0F8HTIS9xkpEILXGz8Xp3QLcHNslaCXxX0MoI7BlFkCJZ1raPpvgKtT56z0bcCM9Ct0x04yGigvsCaGCcamG-n8W_4iyIjZjB4FaN7tRt7wSOMAQidRDb78EiyS1j29LQRDfdEFJ7OEErF59UB4UDz7huBGmgxpb-2LyEQ01Nc/s4032/IMG_9180.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfWI2c8NNU0-QkRHK1P0F8HTIS9xkpEILXGz8Xp3QLcHNslaCXxX0MoI7BlFkCJZ1raPpvgKtT56z0bcCM9Ct0x04yGigvsCaGCcamG-n8W_4iyIjZjB4FaN7tRt7wSOMAQidRDb78EiyS1j29LQRDfdEFJ7OEErF59UB4UDz7huBGmgxpb-2LyEQ01Nc/w300-h400/IMG_9180.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Now, I like the look of wrist warmers but does anybody really wear them?</div><p style="text-align: center;">Please tell me if you do!</p><div style="text-align: left;">Best wishes,<br /><span style="color: #6aa84f; font-family: georgia;"><b><i>Frivole</i></b></span></div>Frivolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10318670621310820581noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6114660986925655424.post-4175279762744291002023-10-20T23:31:00.000+01:002023-10-20T23:31:09.237+01:00Pattern Winners<p>Quick post just to announce the winners of the pattern draw! UROS?? I see RODS used on internet but I wasn't completely clear whether for people that was just reverse order stitches or indeed unflipped reverse order stitches? In the end, I decided to just spell it out to avoid any misunderstanding.</div><div><br /></div><div>I suppose this one is a bit more unusual in its shape but I think a lot of people would be surprised to see in what an amazing variety of shapes real snowflakes come! I never picked it back up at the time so it didn't get finished or the pattern written properly. It was still in note form.</p><p>When I did my demo (see previous post), this was the first snowflake that I sold and I had only one. So it inspired me to get my notes back out, complete the work, and have it as my 2023 snowflake.</p><p style="text-align: center;">I would like to thank Sue for her suggestion of naming it Holly which I think suits it very well!</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvywMa8diqQVaOQJu4rO1cZfU11pNRtFHoWJbawgGc2nm5_Ng8bGbhUu21DswhNlVMc2XagIQjBljw95zFMHQ9-vNHtPiIJoHdVljq-u63s998i9kjMxbwfSaBsPlosv5Oh7_jTv6F-kw77xJpLqLkQfg1fe5pjMKJvJIhJFUzwNz7BOSu5vhvORRTfYo/s1074/Holly%20black%20(1).jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1074" data-original-width="1074" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvywMa8diqQVaOQJu4rO1cZfU11pNRtFHoWJbawgGc2nm5_Ng8bGbhUu21DswhNlVMc2XagIQjBljw95zFMHQ9-vNHtPiIJoHdVljq-u63s998i9kjMxbwfSaBsPlosv5Oh7_jTv6F-kw77xJpLqLkQfg1fe5pjMKJvJIhJFUzwNz7BOSu5vhvORRTfYo/s320/Holly%20black%20(1).jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Below you can see the photo of the real snowflake</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I was working from</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">(photo taken by Wilson Bentley)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjrj7DOWBqOUDCidDVHDqeU-i1pRyp93DyNkKyjcmcAGLs6JAEtbSoAqCuFG_SjS5Xv6Qj1mE0GiEAeh7_XHEChxSY2LZ79yaPYgjxIvsEegxQrdCooapXcxvbgA3c_fKQAsEj9TE9yczs2Nt7jORPhd4FomElWZ1shCS9Hbvo0FXKITPmtPQsyMZYpeg/s772/Screenshot%202023-10-09%20at%2021.21.43.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="772" data-original-width="770" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjrj7DOWBqOUDCidDVHDqeU-i1pRyp93DyNkKyjcmcAGLs6JAEtbSoAqCuFG_SjS5Xv6Qj1mE0GiEAeh7_XHEChxSY2LZ79yaPYgjxIvsEegxQrdCooapXcxvbgA3c_fKQAsEj9TE9yczs2Nt7jORPhd4FomElWZ1shCS9Hbvo0FXKITPmtPQsyMZYpeg/s320/Screenshot%202023-10-09%20at%2021.21.43.png" width="319" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><span style="text-align: left;">I hesitated as to whether I should join the points or not as they are not joined on the real snowflake but joining them gave the tatted snowflake stability. Unfortunately, the link didn't work anymore but a reader kindly gave me a new link from the Wayback </span>Machine which works. So if you had been looking for this pattern, you can find it <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20130825011151/http://www.tat-man.net/tatterville/tatpatterns/pumpkin.pdf" target="_blank">here</a>. I know it's still summer and you're probably not thinking of pumpkins yet but hopefully, you'll be happy to have it come fall. Mark Myers (aka Tat-Man) has many one shuttle designs and this one is no exception and a creative way of achieving the pumpkin shape.</p><p style="text-align: center;">Thank you Sarah for providing me with the new link!</p><div class="separator" style="caret-color: rgb(83, 103, 106); clear: both; color: #53676a; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 14.85px; text-align: center;"><a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IpxzNmXM-sU/UIBXYn-nXuI/AAAAAAAABnQ/9UnnXUs3hJU/s1600/SDC18532.jpg" style="color: #5bacb6; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-decoration: none;"><img border="0" height="315" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IpxzNmXM-sU/UIBXYn-nXuI/AAAAAAAABnQ/9UnnXUs3hJU/s400/SDC18532.jpg" style="border: medium; position: relative;" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="caret-color: rgb(83, 103, 106); clear: both; color: #53676a; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 14.85px; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="caret-color: rgb(83, 103, 106); clear: both; color: #53676a; font-family: Arial, Tahoma, Helvetica, FreeSans, sans-serif; font-size: 14.85px; text-align: left;">Best wishes,</div><div class="separator" style="caret-color: rgb(83, 103, 106); clear: both; font-size: 14.85px; text-align: left;"><span style="color: #ffa400; font-family: georgia;"><b><i>Frivole</i></b></span></div>Frivolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10318670621310820581noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6114660986925655424.post-20896144916643084142023-05-28T12:44:00.000+01:002023-05-28T12:44:22.640+01:00Hanky Edging Completed<div style="text-align: left;"><div style="text-align: center;">Here it is, the handkerchief with the one-shuttle edging (pattern on my Patterns page).</div><div style="text-align: center;">It's been all wrapped up and given away already.</div></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSDySPDquf_BtwUrcQ5xGw_HE7ev-y09u4TRcNKgZN_HUdEWvE6QcE4qdiJs1MJP1UB_7a8RYWvSU1-pgYYmvinj_76zanhfzz9gK4IQ6vv8EP3w8rr6ILVm-tpr19zFRkJatImfw0NeZ-z9axfVu4s_ArK9eXYfWQ4tFzQi25gOHQvwddzuUz1zaS/s4032/IMG_7723.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSDySPDquf_BtwUrcQ5xGw_HE7ev-y09u4TRcNKgZN_HUdEWvE6QcE4qdiJs1MJP1UB_7a8RYWvSU1-pgYYmvinj_76zanhfzz9gK4IQ6vv8EP3w8rr6ILVm-tpr19zFRkJatImfw0NeZ-z9axfVu4s_ArK9eXYfWQ4tFzQi25gOHQvwddzuUz1zaS/w300-h400/IMG_7723.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><p style="text-align: center;"><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfKg_wUHqgDi-JC43SAeqE1AV7cXEyKemGayfDrpXi1du1148wgJ2nijNvE0-q9ntDNB-Ue2GTK0GCIOzhhDWeYW_MTB0pDFJqn8w8DHrLNw51LGbIAXJfBWnEkW2SSlf80emsyXpOwqc1EBz-RVD4jZ5rckk55a40TT4NlOMnfXcnQawkRzAqZP9O/s4032/IMG_7721.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfKg_wUHqgDi-JC43SAeqE1AV7cXEyKemGayfDrpXi1du1148wgJ2nijNvE0-q9ntDNB-Ue2GTK0GCIOzhhDWeYW_MTB0pDFJqn8w8DHrLNw51LGbIAXJfBWnEkW2SSlf80emsyXpOwqc1EBz-RVD4jZ5rckk55a40TT4NlOMnfXcnQawkRzAqZP9O/w480-h640/IMG_7721.jpeg" width="480" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Best wishes,</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="color: #e06666; font-family: georgia;"><b><i>Frivole</i></b></span></div><p></p>Frivolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10318670621310820581noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6114660986925655424.post-58137030335480053702023-05-19T22:39:00.000+01:002023-05-19T22:39:05.064+01:00New Gift Hanky<p>Someone has a special birthday coming up and she likes pinks so I'm making the one-shuttle edging again (see link on the pattern page). I didn't have a lot of time and this seemed a reasonably quick pattern to make. The colour of the hanky is an unusual shade of pink but I found I was able perfectly to match it with Lizbeth's Shell Pink Lt.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh34fPtJZ4EPNrnhm40lfjzDI5ERL2h7wUBuqKqWKOxsQBPuHgn-cyAfmSzZkkp7kDpZvU9YcwhCf9AkpoWs5sH2rQoHTCcEWffaofq1pYnV9i0e9IgSSIAiW0UQeXGBuhGfZjFRh1FreUNB9wK6KXX9ZwvCWOV9P4iXgAOFXHVZ7YAqjXwCXuDXQKU/s4032/IMG_7662.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh34fPtJZ4EPNrnhm40lfjzDI5ERL2h7wUBuqKqWKOxsQBPuHgn-cyAfmSzZkkp7kDpZvU9YcwhCf9AkpoWs5sH2rQoHTCcEWffaofq1pYnV9i0e9IgSSIAiW0UQeXGBuhGfZjFRh1FreUNB9wK6KXX9ZwvCWOV9P4iXgAOFXHVZ7YAqjXwCXuDXQKU/w300-h400/IMG_7662.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I started work with one of my usual favourite shuttles...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">but then found that because all the thread is coming from one shuttle only</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I was having to refill too often so I opted for the larger Starlit</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">(I added a hook to mine for efficiency when making joins)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_3pfCFHBXzny_KFEWXd9ygmy9MZz6HmCD_fhmGAJ_lKT6NY5ScgyfF_tiua4U3hCelEQmzY1FuzyniolTeUEiTc0Tu7VDqaDWI3Aws6xg5wMXjq_VfRl8kMty4O6-GekQ0p9b9zh3YxPE9ndkxeYqcsNR4ZgKMb7Fji_GaVSQhiYmjlNAajUVBiU9/s2160/IMG_7674.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2106" data-original-width="2160" height="312" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_3pfCFHBXzny_KFEWXd9ygmy9MZz6HmCD_fhmGAJ_lKT6NY5ScgyfF_tiua4U3hCelEQmzY1FuzyniolTeUEiTc0Tu7VDqaDWI3Aws6xg5wMXjq_VfRl8kMty4O6-GekQ0p9b9zh3YxPE9ndkxeYqcsNR4ZgKMb7Fji_GaVSQhiYmjlNAajUVBiU9/s320/IMG_7674.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I now hope I'll be able to complete the whole edging without having to refill again.</div><p style="text-align: center;">Back to tatting! It's been too long since I made her a new hanky so as her birthday is coming up, out came my shuttles to tat an edging. I was going to go for something more complex but in the end the shape of this simple design appealed to me - it's from Ann Orr's Tatting Book No. 35 revised. I am tatting it straight onto the handkerchief, attaching it as I go.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh94VC2TtQ2HlQppbkxQP1Y77i1xz0H7K1EZoneyGfIh6vFkm619VszDHnfAyqzDpqDDdoPH4BfqsVm2MnbGGHljPKJ6y6tzl64lCTKMmt1bif1_qSBnL6ISJWwmMnAjqABCZb8R6oRuxbGHMzbU5TFI2lhtlUppQ4qYtEYQRpDELUy3ceyh_R2FlX_/s1280/IMG_6666.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1280" data-original-width="960" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh94VC2TtQ2HlQppbkxQP1Y77i1xz0H7K1EZoneyGfIh6vFkm619VszDHnfAyqzDpqDDdoPH4BfqsVm2MnbGGHljPKJ6y6tzl64lCTKMmt1bif1_qSBnL6ISJWwmMnAjqABCZb8R6oRuxbGHMzbU5TFI2lhtlUppQ4qYtEYQRpDELUy3ceyh_R2FlX_/w300-h400/IMG_6666.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Best wishes,</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="color: #6aa84f; font-family: georgia;"><b><i>Frivole</i></b></span></div>Frivolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10318670621310820581noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6114660986925655424.post-18075221472197226662023-01-12T21:39:00.000+00:002023-01-12T21:39:51.610+00:00HAPPY NEW YEAR! (and apologies regarding patterns)<p>Happy New Year everyone, I do hope you had a wonderful holiday with family and friends and that 2023 is off to a good start!</p><p>I want to start my blogging new year with an apology: over the last few years I've regularly had people contact me to say they were not able to access my free patterns. I couldn't figure out what the problem was so I sent patterns to people who emailed me directly but... I had not visited the gmail account linked to this blog for some time and have just found many many emails from readers asking for access to patterns and I didn't know they were there and I didn't answer them!</p><p>So MANY apologies to all the people who contacted me via the google docs system to ask for access to patterns and I unwittingly ignored you! I have now re-uploaded all the links on my patterns page and I'd be grateful if people could test links and tell me if they now work.<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIZcEMpB9HneV8SpA3yU1ac36GwBid-riyT_RD111t5UoPtHixmBUb-qc0ZS5I9vyDZ4pUXo3EabVecaQsXOcaT75hzxT4BTIOUTbyz0BvsRRG4EdyGdgUwHRtWjDc33Ph2wdL1lDTIIVQolSaR-_vwrHLiG2WcewL8skMXs5EH7znjeZ1i8mrV-IC/s727/Screen%20Shot%202023-01-12%20at%2021.21.05.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="144" data-original-width="727" height="126" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIZcEMpB9HneV8SpA3yU1ac36GwBid-riyT_RD111t5UoPtHixmBUb-qc0ZS5I9vyDZ4pUXo3EabVecaQsXOcaT75hzxT4BTIOUTbyz0BvsRRG4EdyGdgUwHRtWjDc33Ph2wdL1lDTIIVQolSaR-_vwrHLiG2WcewL8skMXs5EH7znjeZ1i8mrV-IC/w640-h126/Screen%20Shot%202023-01-12%20at%2021.21.05.png" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Also if you ever need to contact me or still have problems accessing my free patterns, please do so via the "Contact Me" link in the right side bar of this page rather than through the links at google docs.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Again, I'm sorry to all the readers of this blog who didn't receive a response from me regarding patterns, it was really unintentional! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I do hope it all works now and I would appreciate anyone testing the new patterns links and letting me know!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Very best wishes to all of you,</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: georgia;"><b><i>Frivole</i></b></span></div><p></p>Frivolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10318670621310820581noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6114660986925655424.post-80508650987177335222022-11-30T20:02:00.000+00:002022-11-30T20:02:18.858+00:00Time for Snowflakes<p>It's going to be the 1st of December tomorrow! I started making my Christmas cards for family and friends back home and as always I like to enclose a new snowflake but sadly this year, I've not had time to work on a new pattern. So I had a look in my drawer and found all the sample snowflakes I'd made and then found the variations I'd worked on for my 2019 snowflakes. The one below was version no. 2 and I decided to re-tat it.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhU90vIvhNLSp0GsqjS2FKJufqMobl4p_NgMzXK-QJ5_Wx3gZSjI9Lek5oxR5yEQUGQOoda8jf4_Fv6lKFnk28MkNWrr3jHNyLe3uGZIz34sLfH70eHvoKA_RTOd0VVqOhPgGmqG9QblLp1Rk9_WebgoWsqjEA_HgpYaangJB3jx09nRkkhrhEcCHKb/s1214/Flocon%20no.%206.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1214" data-original-width="1137" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhU90vIvhNLSp0GsqjS2FKJufqMobl4p_NgMzXK-QJ5_Wx3gZSjI9Lek5oxR5yEQUGQOoda8jf4_Fv6lKFnk28MkNWrr3jHNyLe3uGZIz34sLfH70eHvoKA_RTOd0VVqOhPgGmqG9QblLp1Rk9_WebgoWsqjEA_HgpYaangJB3jx09nRkkhrhEcCHKb/s320/Flocon%20no.%206.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I like to start getting into Christmas from the 1st of December, not before if at all possible - apart from the Christmas pudding which I do make in advance as it tastes better. He wasn't happy with the cord he first used and then his sister gave him some waxed cotton cord but he thought it was too thin. So I suggested that I tat the waxed cotton. I thought a lock chain would make a nicely shaped cord for his necklace. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjg3tQV1oApkdgU5OSzcFfT3xkUFMQgH2XG90J17B8I-elayogv4zBTTleCKVlONztJfrzUa28BJue4MU_3w8_ZeRude7xSnXfi5RR9T8Q-SPxhgJujPi6E1zrbqVZfXWdRS-Ec4Y1ITuHOYy55XA-ifP8IGSmcmtVBiS0kWEggE0PdyrrVXJS6R6u4/s1280/IMG_5035.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1280" data-original-width="960" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjg3tQV1oApkdgU5OSzcFfT3xkUFMQgH2XG90J17B8I-elayogv4zBTTleCKVlONztJfrzUa28BJue4MU_3w8_ZeRude7xSnXfi5RR9T8Q-SPxhgJujPi6E1zrbqVZfXWdRS-Ec4Y1ITuHOYy55XA-ifP8IGSmcmtVBiS0kWEggE0PdyrrVXJS6R6u4/w300-h400/IMG_5035.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We think it looks pretty good!</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6n0mbLkpZYI_ErVa1DslsX3hsrlLM7b6chyexPLx-z_LnBERUFWVI1uTRKHSVVEN5clZlQjIXLwm607A8Ljpqzdhilf27Lkkz3pm25T2qBPGa73T9I1pQ_tYbyidcsBaUKkC2gRGU-X0-SaSTXGjVkJzLAGpxyK7yUvR8uYFvWJROhyhuAmNfQXkv/s1280/IMG_5036.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="1280" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6n0mbLkpZYI_ErVa1DslsX3hsrlLM7b6chyexPLx-z_LnBERUFWVI1uTRKHSVVEN5clZlQjIXLwm607A8Ljpqzdhilf27Lkkz3pm25T2qBPGa73T9I1pQ_tYbyidcsBaUKkC2gRGU-X0-SaSTXGjVkJzLAGpxyK7yUvR8uYFvWJROhyhuAmNfQXkv/w400-h300/IMG_5036.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>I hope you all had a nice summer. I'm so pleased to have finally made this collar. I modified the first round of the neckline to avoid having to make all those separate diamond-shaped pieces between medallions (as I had discussed in a previous blogpost) and also because I couldn't make them fit right for me. I used a SCMR with a smaller ring thrown off it to fill the gap instead and incorporated it into the first round of the neck edge which simplifies things a lot.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjji39JlU9v12Skz7kib7h_3Ama5sl0B8XuKYLk6IxZBmyuSe32GTTjJdLoTsU33SNZ4Eeppuv27JNMIUEb3eG_N4UhRCl62yHnV2y6iYHLD2efedS0MJmaLJrtIciPs6SeIwmD7REc4rViFXKO3F9Ban76nNTnVYpkFrAKbtCIm-g8YcvbwEBmFNtq/s1280/IMG_3660.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1132" data-original-width="1280" height="566" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjji39JlU9v12Skz7kib7h_3Ama5sl0B8XuKYLk6IxZBmyuSe32GTTjJdLoTsU33SNZ4Eeppuv27JNMIUEb3eG_N4UhRCl62yHnV2y6iYHLD2efedS0MJmaLJrtIciPs6SeIwmD7REc4rViFXKO3F9Ban76nNTnVYpkFrAKbtCIm-g8YcvbwEBmFNtq/w640-h566/IMG_3660.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd22x6aJtrz6xU_gYL_CGGZwzPjuQsURKHk388IfMOkb0Z0EcVZy50CUqdqLBS9eXJBtcKa3l4pAISDIhtnlTcY96XIXnytH5WQ-BImGABxrsPUuNuHzjhAVPf434YiY77r6dSqRrTSWR7X-fI2fWeLGQD3fZZXQp1R2CG11xOVfZjxK1MGNCV3DMf/s4032/IMG_3706.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd22x6aJtrz6xU_gYL_CGGZwzPjuQsURKHk388IfMOkb0Z0EcVZy50CUqdqLBS9eXJBtcKa3l4pAISDIhtnlTcY96XIXnytH5WQ-BImGABxrsPUuNuHzjhAVPf434YiY77r6dSqRrTSWR7X-fI2fWeLGQD3fZZXQp1R2CG11xOVfZjxK1MGNCV3DMf/w300-h400/IMG_3706.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5ZwpQpGoCT-u1SKwcuMAu16tSYjwlCtHGpA5E8E6Ww8uqf-92PhLQt28mv6UWozyrXCRUFKGSyMB6dXoE49LbstZ2EsLTZICOLHmutEK7fsNU45GruXrt2jCEQSMlAlY6CuSSSdlEgRI1W2ijZEotnid6MhFacdmGoHncUJALxoC6LanmmfyvEcM1/s626/Screen%20Shot%202022-04-19%20at%2015.42.16.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="626" data-original-width="623" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5ZwpQpGoCT-u1SKwcuMAu16tSYjwlCtHGpA5E8E6Ww8uqf-92PhLQt28mv6UWozyrXCRUFKGSyMB6dXoE49LbstZ2EsLTZICOLHmutEK7fsNU45GruXrt2jCEQSMlAlY6CuSSSdlEgRI1W2ijZEotnid6MhFacdmGoHncUJALxoC6LanmmfyvEcM1/w398-h400/Screen%20Shot%202022-04-19%20at%2015.42.16.png" width="398" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p>Now I need to find a way to wear it! I debated whether to find a way to incorporate those two pieces into the subsequent rounds rather than having to do them separately and cut and tie for each but in the end, I kept them, again because I want to respect the original as much as possible.</p><p>However, I didn't like the way it felt a bit "unfinished" to me. So I added an extra ring and an extra chain to fill what looked like a gap on my collar.</p><p>Please ignore all the messiness around the neck edge where I've been testing different options but if you look just at the two ends: on the left is exactly as per the pattern and on the right is my modified version where I've added an extra ring and an extra chain. I could have maybe added two extra chains... but that's what I went with for now. Probably if I was making this again I would do the double chain to keep more consistent with the rest of the design where all the chains are doubled on the bottom edge of the collar. But I suppose I was trying to add the minimum possible!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZdewbE7cxcEGppk9O8FB1V0lP98RPATuE9vRtONnuisnYYmWWHdJs39XnUPDXiqyDskToCo8exMe8Lq-PBhQHAQ6aG4Ha0Yoxak5gyku2PmEmy6dIILNg0k3jjLSFEj_qWHIOEW37lU46-2wiPYVpidJ2vT1mVLlc7tmLPPAt65N-zETOdzmhQjn-/s1280/IMG_3598.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="1280" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZdewbE7cxcEGppk9O8FB1V0lP98RPATuE9vRtONnuisnYYmWWHdJs39XnUPDXiqyDskToCo8exMe8Lq-PBhQHAQ6aG4Ha0Yoxak5gyku2PmEmy6dIILNg0k3jjLSFEj_qWHIOEW37lU46-2wiPYVpidJ2vT1mVLlc7tmLPPAt65N-zETOdzmhQjn-/w640-h480/IMG_3598.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p style="text-align: center;">Just three more rounds and the collar will be done!</p><div style="text-align: left;">Best wishes,</div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="color: #666666; font-family: georgia;"><b><i>Frivole</i></b></span></div>Frivolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10318670621310820581noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6114660986925655424.post-4904177674375613352022-04-02T21:45:00.000+01:002022-04-02T21:45:22.330+01:00Think I found it!<p>Yes, I think I found the way I'm going to make that final round on the bottom edge of the collar. I wanted to stay as close as possible to the original so I kept the arrangement of three small rings in the space between the scallops but I joined them differently, especially as I had removed the small ring that would have been there from the previous round. So we're now making three new small rings to fill the space between the scallops.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK-1RfaMPTsjnAnwlCkjmDrCbFVmlEA6ZKOLkkSuSQJ5LLB2lwRnTHUX8OwB56k_xyYjxgwhHTSKlYFB9GcIY0ps9VII6ZTqvpbnR7n9_0Bcba1qWHpbJyy36t8iNCfIFod6dY24DqwoD-5aGzwKXureciDIkvR_CEMGdfQCcTpYlYVF2lBBwPUN22/s1280/IMG_3541.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="1280" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK-1RfaMPTsjnAnwlCkjmDrCbFVmlEA6ZKOLkkSuSQJ5LLB2lwRnTHUX8OwB56k_xyYjxgwhHTSKlYFB9GcIY0ps9VII6ZTqvpbnR7n9_0Bcba1qWHpbJyy36t8iNCfIFod6dY24DqwoD-5aGzwKXureciDIkvR_CEMGdfQCcTpYlYVF2lBBwPUN22/w400-h300/IMG_3541.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj66NnpikfqFHt93Z9vCJrObynEFKGatiz3KS8aV3mQ08hsIgc6mbn35QUzLraFTsBWZ8Suv_85GLmjG2nfn7a7NuQED4-f6EbUGCH_f5Bj0htYDUir5oE3XhJQ0cpCxmB6FsuzBmDwHrXJvynMQSMQOh4udAbVKRW0kYeWGhvdUC_zcoNJ4ESq-Wl4/s332/Screen%20Shot%202022-03-30%20at%2023.04.26.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="271" data-original-width="332" height="326" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj66NnpikfqFHt93Z9vCJrObynEFKGatiz3KS8aV3mQ08hsIgc6mbn35QUzLraFTsBWZ8Suv_85GLmjG2nfn7a7NuQED4-f6EbUGCH_f5Bj0htYDUir5oE3XhJQ0cpCxmB6FsuzBmDwHrXJvynMQSMQOh4udAbVKRW0kYeWGhvdUC_zcoNJ4ESq-Wl4/w400-h326/Screen%20Shot%202022-03-30%20at%2023.04.26.png" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>As you can see, it's definitely not the same but I hope you'll feel I'm keeping close enough to the spirit of the original.<div><br /></div><div>Part of the problem I was finding, if you look at the photo below, was how to move between those two rings without having a fairly long piece of thread carried on the back. My guess is that there <i>is</i> a piece of thread carried on the back and I think you can see part of it on the top side of the left little ring (where the left arrow points). That's the thing when working with just one shuttle, you can't make a chain to take you to the next point if needed, you can only carry the thread so you want to avoid having large spaces to cross (I hope that makes sense what I'm saying).
