Lace Panel Knitted Jacket

It's done!  I've been wearing it!  All that "knit one purl one"… I thought perhaps I was mad to want to knit a whole garment in K1P1… but it does make for a lovely knitted fabric.  When I started I was thinking of this as more of a "cardigan" but it's quite substantial and definitely more of a jacket.

What I fell in love with and what made me want to knit this jacket… was the beautiful lace panel at the back.  It's funny though because now, as I wear it, I realise the part I liked the best… is the part I can't see!!

Best wishes,
Frivole

  1. That's a gorgeous jacket! I also love the lace panel. I think I'd be on the lookout for three-panel mirrors just so I could see the back!

  10. Beautiful. Love the pattern! My go to pattern for scarves in variegated yarn is k1p1 seed stitch but I have never knit anything else in seed stitch- love the look for a jacket

    1. Hi Louine,

The jacket is actually knitted in "double moss stitch" - still purl one knit one - but you change every two rows instead of every row so it looks slightly different than regular moss stitch. But yes, either makes a nice, interesting texture.

    1. Yes, it's quite warm actually and I have worn it as a jacket when the days were not too cold.

    1. Hi Crazy Mom, it's a Debbie Bliss design from their "Amalfi" pattern book (it's the name of the yarn but not the one I used for mine). I just fell in love with the back of this jacket and it had been on my "to-make-one-day" list for a couple of years! I hope your friend likes it.
