It's done! I've been wearing it! All that "knit one purl one"… I thought perhaps I was mad to want to knit a whole garment in K1P1… but it does make for a lovely knitted fabric. When I started I was thinking of this as more of a "cardigan" but it's quite substantial and definitely more of a jacket.
What I fell in love with and what made me want to knit this jacket… was the beautiful lace panel at the back. It's funny though because now, as I wear it, I realise the part I liked the best… is the part I can't see!!
Best wishes,
Frivole
That's a gorgeous jacket! I also love the lace panel. I think I'd be on the lookout for three-panel mirrors just so I could see the back!
ReplyDeleteAn extraordinary garment!!! It would be fun to see you wear it.

Fabulous, fabulous! You can't see it, but you know it's there, and those behind you have something special to look at.

DeleteThose whose heads swivel as you pass will be rewarded for their good taste. It's gorgeous!! :-D
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Love the pattern! My go to pattern for scarves in variegated yarn is k1p1 seed stitch but I have never knit anything else in seed stitch- love the look for a jacket
ReplyDeleteHi Louine,
DeleteThe jacket is actually knitted in "double moss stitch" - still purl one knit one - but you change every two rows instead of every row so it looks slightly different than regular moss stitch. But yes, either makes a nice, interesting texture.
This is more than beautiful. Enjoy wearing it as even though you cannot see the lace others will.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I love it. Perfect time of year for it too!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's quite warm actually and I have worn it as a jacket when the days were not too cold.
DeleteWhat's the pattern for this? is it on Ravelry? I have a friend who would LOVE to make this....
ReplyDeleteHi Crazy Mom, it's a Debbie Bliss design from their "Amalfi" pattern book (it's the name of the yarn but not the one I used for mine). I just fell in love with the back of this jacket and it had been on my "to-make-one-day" list for a couple of years! I hope your friend likes it.
