I thought it'd be interesting to show it to you one more time before I complete the square so you can see how you travel around the design... I have one more repeat to do on the bottom left square and one in the centre part and two repeats on the last square which is also the first.
Nearly there!
Best wishes,
Frivole
I'm tatting this too and enjoying it. Once I've done this small square I'd like to expand it using Robin's instructions of turning clockwise/counter-clockwise to expand the size of the square.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! My favorite thing about the magic square is that once you understand the basic idea, you can design your own magic square using repeatable squares (either from pre-existing patterns or designing from scratch). It opens up a whole new world of possibilities, and I think it would be really neat to see new magic square designs pop up in the future :)
ReplyDeleteNot feeling brave enough yet Robin! But I think it would be great indeed to have a go at designing one... wonder if it would work with my quatrain pattern... or a variation of it?
DeleteYes, it should work if you use a one round version of your Quatrain pattern, like the corner of your Quatrain bookmark, tatted into a square. What you can do is tat one square, and then digitally make an image of a four square mat. The center (where the four squares connect) then needs to be redesigned so that you can travel from one square to the next in one pass.
DeleteThank you Robin. I will definitely be giving that a try!
DeleteThat looks fabulous!!! :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely fascinating!!
