I strung a mix of beads (you can mostly see the red ones) and sprinkled them randomly as I tatted, slipping one up between stitches at various intervals.
I think the pattern designer meant for the threads to just be carried to go from one round to the other… but that wouldn't do - would it? So I finally figured out that this can indeed all be tatted in one pass, if using split rings (which are in the pattern) and split chains (which are not). And now that I find split chains easy (with Marie's method), this little tree is no trouble and tatted all in one go, just as I like it!
Now, I must get tatting snowflakes! It's soon time to start writing Christmas cards and I like to put a snowflake in mine…
Best wishes,
Frivole
Lovely tree, I love the way you have done it with some beads, I could see some of them. Are you going to re write the pattern with the split rings and chains.

Hi Margaret, I can't say about the pattern yet as we are waiting to hear from the author. J. kindly wrote to her (snail mail) to ask if there was a way of sharing her pattern so we're waiting for her reply.
DeleteThank you and I hope she will allow it.

looks great love the bit of white snow on the edge, I can see the tiny ornaments so cute!
ReplyDeleteThat's an adorable little tree! I like the way you have the beads sprinkled throughout the pattern.
ReplyDeleteGreat to be able to do the tree in one pass. Beads are perfect for it, and I like the edging of snow.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful Christmas tree!!! :)
ReplyDeleteNice to have a pattern like this that can be done in one pass. The staggered beads is a really nice touch. Were they placed on the first shuttle? Hope the author gives you permission for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThis tree is wonderfull ! Great job doing it in one pass and beads.
ReplyDeleteVery sweet little tree! Cute tiny baubles. And from here, the snow looks like whipped cream,..
ReplyDeleteVery cute tree Frivole. And I do so appreciate Marie's method for split chains.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like it too Mad Tatter. I didn't get on with split chains at all until I tried her method but now I'm happy to use them wherever needed, especially when it lets you tat things in one pass!
DeleteThe tree is very cute! Love the way it curls and the baubles added.
ReplyDeleteI'm very keen to tat this pattern. Could you help me to get in touch with the designer please? I don't know German though.
ReplyDeleteHi Val, from what I understood, the designer only speaks German and is not on email. The lady who helped me get the pattern has written to her to ask about sharing/selling her pattern and we're waiting to hear her response. I will give an update as soon as I have one.
DeleteGreat, thanks! Would appreciate if you can email me when you hear back. Many thanks, Frivole. :)
ReplyDeletePS...I forgot to ask if you could share where that pattern came from? I would sure like to try and tat one myself..! Thanks..
ReplyDeleteI don't see my first posting, but I complimented you on the tree, and I think it us just beautiful..!
DeleteHi Barbara, the pattern is by Edith Rösti. She is German and I got the pattern with the help of one of my readers who is also German. It is not easy to contact the designer as she is not online and has no email. I'm trying to get access to the pattern and will give an update if/when I have more information.
DeleteI understand, and I appreciate the feedback. Maybe someday....thanks!
