Many of you will recognise Mary Konior's Patchwork. This is an easy design that is a pleasure to tat. But I felt I wanted to make some sort of edging to it... Looking through my tatting patterns, I noticed how much one of Jan Stawasz's doily sets was similar to patchwork (this is the doily set on p.75 of his book). Sure enough, it needed barely any adjusting at all to make a nice edging for my patchwork doily.
Doily tatted in Lizbeth size 40 |
I'm very pleased with how this has worked out.
And it's now ready to be mailed to my father.

Hope he likes it too.
Best wishes,
Very pretty! I love the way you can look at other patterns and adapt them for your own use. Maybe I'll be adventurous and try that some day. : )
ReplyDeleteWunderschön. Ich mag das Deckchen sehr gerne. Es gefällt mir sehr gut. :)
ReplyDeleteThe border is absolutely perfect. I had to look closely to distinguish it from the other pattern.

Well I never, Frivole!
ReplyDeleteYou call that a "small" doily - that 16 motif piece, *plus* the perfect edging - it would be a fully fledged *big* project for me!
I think the edging is just perfect for the matt. It gives it just the finishing touch it needs.
Wow - this is really beautiful. I love the design, and the edging is wonderful. Yellow is just perfect.
ReplyDeleteThat is fabulous!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteCreativa, you made me smile! I mean small because it was tatted in size 40 so the finished size isn't that big!
Your tatting is always so pretty. I can barely make out the designs from the two different designers. Your father is going to love this.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and lovely colour, I love the design and how you put two together.

Marrying the two together has worked beautifully. I'm sure your father will love it!
ReplyDeleteI had added a link from my blog to your blog in my Friends section.
lovely!!!
ReplyDeletePhoto is nice but the thing will be still nicer. Love. Papou
ReplyDeleteI just about fell over when I saw this! Is it possible you tatted this entire doily in only one month??!! Even if you didn't, it's another example of your exceptional talent and skill! Just gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteI did only ONE "Patchwork" motif back in the '90s and was quite pleased with myself. (Mary's book was new back then!) Then I put it in my stash where it languished for at least 10 years. I finally 'dusted it off' and made it into a pendant which I recently posted on my blog. I believe I used a size 12 Perle cotton (equivalent to size 30 or 40), and it's still a large motif, so I would think this is a rather nice size doily! You did 16 motifs (amazing!), and then brilliantly added a 'border' from a Jan Stawasz pattern. It is perfect - in every way!!
ja też zrobiłam taką serwetkę ale dużą, w kolorze różowym pozdrawiam
