D*i*amond Earrings

I hope people still enjoy reading blogs?... Or are they now "passé"?  What is your favourite platform to view craft content?

I recently made a new video on how to tat these easy d*i*amond earrings (I'm adding the asterisks because last time I posted about such earrings a few years ago, I got so many spam comments!), you can view it here.  Making the video caused me to tat a few more pairs so here they are.  Two of the pairs will be gifted to friends.

They don't take long to make and the pattern is super simple to remember:
R3-3-3-3, rw
C7, rw
*R3+3-3-3, rw
C7, repeat from *

There are slight variations in each:
The green pair is joined at the first and last picots of each rings (as per the pattern),
whereas the grey and the black pairs are joined at the second,
and penultimate picots of each ring.

The grey pair has beads at the tips.
The black pair has beads at all the joins
(not very visible as they are black on black).
I shall make another pair with a more contrasting bead on the joins.

I stiffen those earrings with a bit of diluted PVA glue so they keep their shape when worn.

Do you have favourite earring pattern, one that you go back to again and again?  Please let me know!

Best wishes,

Frivole

  1. I do have favorite patterns. And I do blog and read blogs. Never trusted Facebook. Utube is just too video oriented for me. Blogs are more like libraries and boutique stores. Perhaps today's blog for me will be about my earring collection!

  4. I prefer reading blogs. I haven't joined Facebook or any of the other social media stuff 'out there,' but I DO enjoy reading your blog. I don't have a favorite earring pattern at the moment. I tend to find something that appeals to me, tat a pair for everyone I know who wears earrings, then find something else later and tat more earrings.

  5. I suffer from 2nd earring syndrome and the 2nd of a pair never gets tatted 😁

  6. I love reading blogs! And the great thing is that I can come back to your blog and find this lovely pattern again, whereas on Facebook it would quickly disappear without trace! Thanks. I like my dewdrop earrings, again, pattern can easily be found on my blog.

I prefer the blogs, but I am only on the blogs and facebook, so I don't know about other platforms. ;)

  10. I love reading your blogs! Maybe they've gone "out of fashion," but I've never considered myself all that fashionable anyway. Lol
Those earrings are great! They look like they're fast to tat up and have lots of customizations. (I put tatted stuff at my church's welcome center & these will be a big hit, I predict).

To answer your question, if I'm learning, I prefer a video... and just watching tatting I find pretty relaxing, too. But there's something to be said for the written word... pretty much enjoy everything you do! (Sorry so long).

    1. Never too long Angie! I always appreciate people taking the time to write. So relieved people were indeed writing and it was me who had forgotten about comment moderation! Yes, videos are really great for learning, we're so lucky to have all that information at the tips of our fingers! :-)

  11. I still enjoy reading blogs. I know that I don't have as many readers as I used to, but I started blogging mainly as a way of journaling my craft projects. There are times I get frustrated with technology. I still read many blogs, but I can't always leave comments, and I've lost interest in figuring out computer problems!

    1. Yes, it's a good way of keeping tracks of things you've done I agree! Though nowadays, I really don't take the time to blog as often as I used to so many many things go "unrecorded"... Yes, computers, wonderful when they behave but... :-)

  12. I still enjoy reading blogs. Unfortunately, it seems like most blogs have been abandoned in favor of the social media sites.
