Double Flower

I'm still motoring on with my madly coloured crochet blanket but I took a little break to tat this flower from Jan Stawasz's second book.

I went wrong.  The stem between the two flowers should be longer and the leaves should be attached to the stems.  Because of that, the design looks a bit crowded.  Also this is one motif that would benefit from FS/BS tatting.  One to put in the "re-do" pile...

Here I flipped one of the flowers…
With few modifications,
you could just about make that into a flowery heart.

Best wishes,
Frivole

  1. I love the way you've joined two of Jan's flowers together. I agree, it would benefit from a longer stem.

    What is that gorgeous thread?

  2. Hi Miranda, can't take credit: they were like that in the book! :-)
Yes, definitely a longer stem for the next version. And the thread is Lizbeth "Easter Eggs".

    1. Ah yes, now I see it. I don't know how I missed that pattern before! It looks like you made the chains the right length, maybe you just pulled them too tight. Or maybe joining the leaves would help pull it into shape better.

  5. Lovely flowers, very pretty colours yes the stem could be a little longer but it's still worth keeping as it could be put in a card.

  7. The thread is a lovely, delicate colour. I like the motif and I'm sure you'll find a use for it, even if it's not perfect!

    1. Hi Kay, it's from Jan Stawasz's second book (Tatted Treasures) and yes, I'm sure you can needle tat this, it's not complicated, just rings and chains.
