Please Tell Me!

I had some nice comments before when I asked about the videos (thank you very much!) but what I'd like to know is:  Would you like to see more?  And if so, what would you like to see?  I've finally taken the scary step and decided to talk from now on (where necessary!) which does make it quicker to upload videos as adding the annotations afterwards is a slow process.

I just uploaded a second fair-isle knitting video because I got my knitting back out now it's September and cooler days always make me think of knitting.  I have an unusual way (I think it is anyway!) of knitting Fair Isle with both yarns in my right hand and also figured out my own way of twisting the yarns to catch floats so I thought I'd make a video of it.

Anyway,  it got me thinking about the tatting videos and I'd like you to tell me what videos you'd like me to make, if any.

Please write a comment and say what'd you'd like to see, if you feel there's anything missing, a particular technique you'd like me to make a video for.  I'll start a list if I get responses.

Thank you.

Best wishes,
Frivole

  3. Your video's are very helpful to me. It is true there are a lot of video's about tatting, but I am looking for the ones that are very clear rightaway. And yours definitely are. I am interested in technique video's. Like twisted picots, celtic tatting, tatting around a ring. Please keep up the good work and thanks for all your help.

  4. I have made a few videos myself and people like the clarity! And I also like yours to! some people have asked me to make the whole bookmark, that I just displayed only.
Sometimes I think they like me, enjoy a good technique on a subject and like goudenregen said twisted picots I have not seen yet. But I feel I do not have the ability with my camera to show and time elapse a entire small bookmark or doily being made. I gather they want to see you hide the knot and continue move up follow a pattern, and make it short time wise! well that's what I would like to do, but it is a big project! and I am not sure I that skilled. on YouTube I am madtatter80 I did mess up the baby blessing dress video but the cluny and Josephine knot I feel came out clear.

  6. I adore your videos! They are very clear and easy to follow, thank you for taking the time to make them. I would love to see one on different techniques for celtic tatting but I am sure any video you make will be informative.

  7. Please may I make two suggestions. It took me hours to decipher the diagrams and a video would be so very helpful.

    1. Jane Eborall's 'Joining colours with no blips!'

    2. Claudia Meza's wide picot which is used in her Lochness Monster Flower which makes a very pretty bookmark.

  9. Your videos are soooo helpful! I would love it if you did one demonstrating your useful way of embedding tails of a chain. Your step-by-step picture sequence is very good, but a video would probably help me remember it better.

Also, how you maneuver your right hand/fingers is a mystery to me and I'd love a chance to watch it clearly. Your method of tatting is so FAST! I've adapted my right hand movements to what I think might be close to yours and my tatting speed has increased, but you seem to have much better tension and speed...seeing how your hand moves might be very helpful to improving my own.

    Keep up the good work!

    1. Hi Rose-Marie, I've taken note of your request for a video on how to hide ends but I did make a video recently that shows more specifically what the right hand is doing, have you seen it? If it's not helpful, how could I make it more so?

    2. Thanks so much! I had overlooked this video but it is extremely helpful! This clip is quite clear; I don't think there is a need to change anything about it. You've shown what's happening on the top and bottom of your hand quite well.

Your method is very efficient. I learned to pass the thread over all my fingers, which requires a longer thread and therefore longer traveling distance for the shuttle. I will give your scaled-down wrap a try. Thanks for the excellent demo!
