Quatrain Project Finished

It's done!  This is the project I'd been working on for a while (though not continuously as you know I like variety).  So for a break from the Jan Stawasz doily, I picked up this one again and finished it this afternoon.

Maybe some day I will make something even bigger with the Quatrain motif (Michelle has inspired me and I shall follow her progress with great interest!) but for now, this more modest project will do.

Best wishes,

  1. Your runner is beautiful! It matches your coffee pot perfectly.

I was wondering if Quatrain motifs would make a good window curtain, but I think it may be a little too open.

  5. Bellissima! Did you hand-embroider the linen too? This is stunning lacework.

  6. This is delightful dainty! I have been wanting to embellish some linen I purchased. How exactly do you determine where to attach the lace onto the fabric? That has been baffling me so.

  7. Thank you very much!

JLIG, for this one, I made the lace first, then attached it to a piece of linen (larger than what I needed) and then cut the extra off. The small edge is then folded under and held in place with a zig-zag or other decorative stitch.

Isdihara, thank you, but not hand-embroidered I'm afraid... I have a lovely sewing machine which has some pretty embroidery stitches on it. I've used these varied stitches many times in the past for all sorts of projects (made many smocked dresses for my girls when they were smaller for example) and they come in handy for these sorts of tatted projects too. Adds an extra touch of colour and so quick to do (cheating really! :-))
