'Tis the Season to...

be wearing snowflake earrings!  I just had to take a short moment to make myself a pair.  This is Elizabeth Zipay's pattern and they are very quick to make.

I have now stiffened them and added a few sparkles too… and they look really nice on… really "snowflakey!  :-)

The pattern in the background is Ground no. 22
from "Tatting" ed. by Thérèse de Dillmont

If anyone knows of a product that would make fabric (or thread) completely hard, I'd love to hear about it.  I used PVA glue but that still leaves them bendable.  Is there anything that goes really hard?

Best wishes,
Frivole

Edging No. 11

Still exploring the same book (DMC Tatting, Th. de Dillmont),
here is edging no. 11:

Motif No. 4

I have made most of the one pass edgings from that book in the past
but had not tackled those, like this one, which are made in multiple passes
(two in this case).

Simple, but very pretty I think.

Best wishes,

More Thérèse de Dillmont

Here is another small Medallion from DMC's Tatting (ed. Th. de Dillmont).

Motif no. 3

I don't know why but one of my centre four rings is smaller than the others... I must have got the stitch count wrong?  Just noticed it on the photo.

Little Squares and The Single Shuttle Split Ring (SSSR)

One of my very favourite books is "Tatting" from the DMC Library, edited by Thérèse de Dillmont.  All the samples in the book are so perfectly tatted, I always find them very inspiring.  I was just tidying my books and had a leaf through... and tatted these two little squares.

The one on the left is tatted in size 10 DMC Babylo and the one on the right in Lizbeth 20.

I also uploaded a new video on the single shuttle split ring (Shall I keep making them?  Are there any specific techniques you'd like me to do?)  This also shows finger-tatting so I probably won't be making another video specifically for that I don't think.  I've been trying hard to improve the quality of my videos, so feedback is welcome.  I'm wondering now about eventually re-doing the ones that I made with the red background... what do you think?

If you click on the picture above - clicking once will start the video
and clicking again will take you to Youtube -
where you can view the video in larger format
(and higher resolution if you wish)
