Little Squares and The Single Shuttle Split Ring (SSSR)
One of my very favourite books is "Tatting" from the DMC Library, edited by Thérèse de Dillmont. All the samples in the book are so perfectly tatted, I always find them very inspiring. I was just tidying my books and had a leaf through... and tatted these two little squares.
I also uploaded a new video on the single shuttle split ring (Shall I keep making them? Are there any specific techniques you'd like me to do?) This also shows finger-tatting so I probably won't be making another video specifically for that I don't think. I've been trying hard to improve the quality of my videos, so feedback is welcome. I'm wondering now about eventually re-doing the ones that I made with the red background... what do you think?

Yes, please keep making your videos! I find them very helpful when I'm trying to learn a new technique, or remember a previously learned technique. I've had no trouble viewing any of your videos. I especially like this one. Could it be the beautiful new shuttle? : )
ReplyDeleteHi Diane,
DeleteYes, I'm so pleased with my new shuttle, I just had to feature it in the video! I'm just wondering about the videos because there are many available already't there?... so I'm just trying to gauge whether it's worth me keep making them or whether there is enough resource available already.
Oh, please keep sharing your videos!....they have been my lifeline when it comes to those head-scratching-moments in tatting!
ReplyDeleteGreat video. I never took the time to learn the SSSR, thinking it would be too complicated. But I see now that it is not too complicated. Your instruction was very clear. I will give this a try now. Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteVery nice motifs!! :)
ReplyDeleteYes. yes, YES! Your videos are magnifique! The last one in particular is very helpful a I forget how to loop over the new ring... You show it perfectly!
ReplyDeleteFox : )
I'm joining the crowd - yes keep making videos. I would love to see you make a split chain video. I've watched several and did find one that helped once but cannot find it again and have forgotten how I did the split chains because it's been so long.
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa, glad you made a suggestion about the split chain - it's really nice to know what people are particularly interested in. I'll try to do that next.
DeleteDo you really want to scare us :D ?
ReplyDeleteYOUR VIDEOS LEARNT ME how to "slip and slide", how to close a ring , make a chain and so much more....YOU teach me to tat. So please, keep this in mind : there are A LOT of people watching over and over again your PRECIOUS minutes on Youtube. Don't event think to stop, please !
I only have a minor suggestion if it's allowed : for better view ( or understanding) I think that a thicker thread is welcome. And, by the way, the white background is much more calming. ;)
Keep going , Frivole !
Thank you Tiktakro! How can I resist when you put it that way! More videos coming up then! Thank you for the suggestion of using a thicker thread, it's a very good point. I will try to use size 10 in the next videos. And the white background is here to stay - I think it looks much better.
DeleteBut you may still have to put up with my colourful nail varnish though!
I swear I said this this morning- please keep doing the videos, they're great! I'd love to see one for the split chain....
