Hello Everyone!
Sorry I have become a bit of an infrequent poster of late! There seems to be so many things to keep up with that I don't get around to posting on my blog as often as I used to, or as often as I'd like.
I'm working on large tatting again at the moment, worked with 3mm cotton cord.
I love autumn and its gorgeous colours so here is a bit of large tatting amongst the autumn leaves.
It's the 31st today so Happy Halloween to those who celebrate it!
Best wishes,
Frivole
Love to see your large tatting, the limits of tatting extended.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jane! :-)
DeleteGreat!! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! :-)
DeleteSo, are you finger tatting the large size?? Or maybe using a tatsy shuttle? Beautiful job, as always.
ReplyDeleteHi Angie, I'm using a large tatting shuttle that I 3D-printed!
Delete... though it's true that for smaller motifs, and depending on size of cord used, a Tatsy does work!
DeleteOh how neat!! You are so inventive!
DeleteIt's lovely to see a post from you! Your tatting looks beautiful, as always. I completely understand how easy it is to become an infrequent poster. I haven't been posting very often either!
ReplyDeleteHello its lovely to see you posting, your giant tatting is lovely and I look forward to seeing it when you have finished,
ReplyDeleteHope you are keeping well
Margaret
I love your oversized tatting. As someone who prefers tatter with size 10, or even size 3, I love seeing what a very skillful tatter do in more chunky thread. It has all the elegance of your smaller pieces too. Happy holidays and a great 2023 (in advance)!
ReplyDeleteHi there; I've just found your blog via Pinterest, and am intrigued by your "big" tatting." A while back, I found some pictures of crocheted wheel covers, and it was a real "Hold my beer" moment for me. (We have a tire cover that says "Scottsdale, Arizona" on it, and we live most of the way across the country from there. When I saw those crocheted covers that look like big doilies, I knew that's what I wanted. I have the #10 nylon cord, but I can only get enough of it on my biggest shuttle to tat two or three rings and chains at a time. It's going to look much too ragged if I have to stop and start that often. May I ask what kind of shuttle you use for your "big tatting?" I'm really hoping for a tatted wheel cover on the back of my Landy.
ReplyDeleteHello, I am using 3D-printed shuttles that I made myself while I was at university because you are right you really need something that holds much more thread. Although when I'm stuck, you can tat with the ball of thread itself: I make a "slidy" knot around the ball so that I can unwind thread but it doesn't unwind by itself and then make the knots with the ball of thread in my hand.
