That bright red is incredibly hard to photograph!
So then I thought it was time I contemplated closures… I made a sample frog closure from Marilee's book "Up and Tat 'Em". Looking for a button in my box, I found this interesting metal closure. What do you think? I think I'm still going to go with the tatted frogs - yes? Should I try them in a different colour? Or do you like black? It needs to be contrasting but I wondered if ecru might look nice as well...
Best wishes,
Frivole
Tatted frogs. Black. Perfect.
ReplyDeleteLooks stunning and I am sure whatever you use will be beautiful!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm all for tatting but with that red and the pattern, I like the metal closure.
ReplyDeleteTatted frogs, in black, with a silver button, exactly as you have made. Very often, your first instinct is the correct one. Anyway, I'm partial to the combination of red, black, and silver.
ReplyDeleteEven if you do end up going with a different color, do stick with the tatted frogs. The metal closure is very pretty, but I think it's a little too small and gets lost in the crochet design. Save it for something else.
I like the tatted frog too - if you want another colour, perhaps something from the same spectrum but a lot darker? - like a burgundy or Lizbeth Terracotta. The button will still add contrast.
ReplyDeleteWonderful that that the sleeves are working out now - 10/10 for your persistence! I like the tatted frogs too.
ReplyDeleteI am with Fox, the black gives a great contast, so glad the sleeves are working out.
ReplyDeleteMargaret
You do such amazing work. Robin
ReplyDeleteyea the black is nice!
ReplyDeleteYes to the black - but I'm not so keen on the silvery button, for me it takes something from classic to a bit blingy. I wonder what a black button would like with it? (I'd get my whole button box out and try almost everything I've got. If you don't have any button pins I recommend them. They're great for testing shanked buttons and you can do a real "wear test" for a whole garment's worth without having to sew them on. If the buttons you want to test don't have shanks its easy to give them a temporary one out of thread and doesn't risk cutting your garment if you decide you want to change them.)
ReplyDeleteI love the look of the black tatted frogs!
ReplyDeleteFabulous job:)
ReplyDeleteI love the tatted closure, but I feel the black a little bit strong. I mean, that color combination requires black accessories and skirt or trousers.
Definitely the black.... nothing goes better with a bright red than black! and black goes good with anything.
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to lie, I think the cardigan looks really cute with those short sleeves...for what that is worth.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the majority, go with the black frogs, they look delightful!
