Butterfly Heart

Whilst on my cyber travels... I came upon this pretty little heart by Irene Woo.  I feel silly now because I printed it and the pattern had a photo but now I cannot find the link again!  Does anyone know where to find it?  I found a link on Tatting Chic's blog on the wayback machine but it doesn't have a photo.

It was tatted with Yarnplayer's gorgeous Tourmaline thread in size 30.
It reminds me of Lizbeth "Vineyard Harvest" which is one of
my favourite Lizbeth...  I think I may have to re-tat it to compare colours.

A couple of chains are looking a bit "wonky" and I'm not happy with them
so that's a good excuse to make it again, is it not?

A quick tat which would look pretty on a card.

Best wishes,

  1. Such a pretty heart - both the pattern and the thread color! And it looks perfectly tatted, to me! Fox posted about this heart on March 20, 2010, so perhaps she has info on the pattern! No doubt she'll be writing to you!

  3. I think I saw this on Gina's (Tatting Goddess) blog - but I can't seem to view her blog properly the last couple of days. I would love this pattern also - and I have some of that beautiful thread :)

  4. It is such a pretty heart and I have also featured it on my blog http://tatsheaven-churchlog.blogspot.com/2010/03/mothering-sunday.html. The pattern comes from a book but cannot locate the book or the pattern at the moment and yes Gina has also featured it.
Yours is very pretty too. I have worked it with two plain colours and it looks very effective

  5. Sally, yours look very nice. I like them turned into bookmarks too, good idea. Cindy, the link I put up does work, you get the pattern, just that it's without a photo.

  6. Your heart is beautiful! I know I've seen this heart before, but I've never found the pattern with the photo. My solution (as of a few minutes ago) was to print out the pattern and your picture so that I know what it should look like!

  8. The pattern is in Georgia Seitz's book: Tatting Online, The Official 1999 Tat_Chat Pattern Book. It's also in the wayback machine but without a picture:

  9. Hi Gina, and thank you! Yes, that's the same link that I found through Tatting Chic's blog but, as you say, without a picture. I just wondered if there was a better link anywhere... Do you have the book yourself?

    1. Thank you for your message Emma. This is an old post and sadly Irene Woo has now passed away but we were able to publish her pattern with her family's permission and you can now find it in the free pattern section of the "Patterns" tab above.

  11. Georgia Seitz published this on Thursday March 16, 2017 in her newsletter from BellaOnline.com. There is a picture of Irene Woo, a picture of the tatted heart, along with a diagrammed pattern and a written pattern.
    Yours is beautiful.

    1. Thank you very much Jill. This is an old post and in fact I worked with Georgia to publish the updated pattern after Irene Woo passed away. I made the diagram and put the pattern together so that everyone could enjoy this lovely design. It is also available in my blog's "patterns" tab. Best wishes!
