Tischband Done!

Yes, I think I'll stop there.  Although I like both the flowers and the leaves, if I'm honest, I've not completely enjoyed putting it together.  I find there is too much tension between the elements.  And it's really hard to get those flowers looking perfect (you know, for the spaces between all the chains to be exactly the same - I know, I'm fussy!).  I still think overall it's a lovely pattern and something decorated with a whole band of this would look amazing.  But that's it for me on that one.  Now I need to find a use for it.  Be a shame not to put it on something.... Any ideas?

I'll say this finished item is no.13 of my 25-motif challenge

How's everybody else getting on with theirs?

Best wishes,

  1. Too fab! I think it would look nice if it were framed, maybe as part of collage.

  2. Your tatting is absolutely breathtaking! *sigh* It is a pleasure to look at this; as for what to do with it? I have no idea! That is always the dilemma for me...

Gotta go - back to practicing your heart... grrrrr.

  3. Frivole, this is stunning! Not just in terms of the layout, but I think the colours turn out well! What size is this all joined up? I would usely it as a display on a petite tabletop! I totally love what you did!

    1. Thank you for your message Val. It's not that big: 6 3/4 in wide x 4 in high. I actually thought it would look nice if I used it as the centre of a doily and carried on tatting around it with a simpler motif... Maybe?

  4. it looks good. congrats on getting it to do what you wanted it to do. I would put it on your coffee table, or end table where everyone can see it.

  5. What did you do to get it to lay right? Redo, change tension? I've been hesitating about the leaves after your last post!
    And it's gorgeous!!!!

    1. Don't hesitate Michelle, have a go at the leaves! They are nice but it is true that if I was to redo this pattern, I would have to adjust it so that it behaved a bit better. I didn't redo in the end, once all the elements were in place, it wasn't so bad and I just pressed it a bit.

  7. Lovely! I could use a video showing tips for making those leaves. : )

I think it would be perfect on a small tea tray.
