I'm sadly not knitting much at all either (same problem) but I did manage to finish a hat before things got bad. I showed some of the wool I've been spinning in an earlier blogpost. After the two white fleeces, I was also given a dark brown fleece. That wool has much shorter fibres and is rather difficult to spin but I managed to make a bit, enough for a decorative accent on a hat (which I gifted to the farmer friend who gave me the fleeces).
The brown wool is hard to spin but I like the colour changes in the wool when it is spun.
I don't know why there is a weird green rectangle in this photo but I can't remove it! |
And here is the hat.
My very first piece of clothing made with my own wool!
Exciting.
I'm still working on the sweater I started with my wool but that will be a while in the making yet. I now have my son combing the wool for me (to save my arm) but I find spinning is fine. So I'll be making more wool, ready for when I can start knitting again.
How about you, any nice projects you are currently working on?
Best wishes,
Frivole
I'm glad you're able to spin! I have three knitting projects, a test tat, and two personal tatting projects in the works... none of which I can share at this time!
ReplyDeleteAh, secrets secrets! I shall look forward to them being revealed on your blog in due course. :-)
DeleteWhat lovely wool, and what a lovely hat.
ReplyDeleteThank you! :-)
DeleteWhat I am working on is finding a way to play the organ with the current (injured) state of my shoulders and arms. I know you can relate! I hope you can gather around you those who can help take on tasks that allow you to work in health. Time for a walk to the Bay and breathing deeply of the salt air!
ReplyDeleteHello, luckily my bad elbow is not preventing me playing the piano so I hope you find a way to play the organ but it frustratingly prevents me from doing an awful lot of other things. A walk in the Bay and salt air sounds good to me! :-)
DeleteI love the hat, and glad you could spin the wool, how lovely of your son to comb it for you.
ReplyDeleteI seem to need some mojo at the moment, I have some tatting which I was ask to do and I have a pattern which I would love to make, I have a crochet blanket in the making but its getting big now and my hand gets painful, no knitting although I was given some wool which I think might make a nice baby's cardigan. the arthritis is getting worse in my hand and I have an appointment at the RUH before christmas so hopefully they might do something, not holding my breath
Hi Margaret, sorry to hear your arthritis is causing you pain and concern, I do hope they are able to help you. We crafty people all need our hands to create and keep us happy!
