I realise no doubt not every tatter is comfortable with using split rings, split chains and self-closing mock rings! So I'm thinking of also offering a "simpler" variation of Alba which would look like this (and also because someone told me they liked a version with picots better!).

In this variation, I have removed all the self-closing mock rings, 1SSCMR and self-closing Josephine Knots! There is still one split ring to move from round 1 to round 2 but you can always cut and tie if you do not wish to use a split ring.
If it makes this design accessible to more tatters, I'm happy to add the variation to the pattern. And here they are side by side.
What about you? Do you have a preference?

Both are beautiful! I can't say that I prefer one over the other.
ReplyDeleteIf it’s not too too much of a hassle to offer two versions, I think it’s great to give options. Although I’m a fan of picots, I like the first version best too.

I do like both and if you can put both options on the pattern, then is gives greater choice for those who want to try both, which includes me, I do love the design of both snowflakes.

ReplyDeleteI agree that the first version is truer to the real snowflake, but I also think the picots add a softness to the flake. It's very generous of you to take the extra time to make a simpler version.
