I always get compliments on my metal heart pendant into which I placed this heart (my blog entry of feb 13, 2012). I admitted I didn't master the Catherine Wheel join, but it still made a nice shape - but not as perfect an outline as it should! But for some reason, I never think to do it. "Wing Span" is a great measurement which I use all the time too.

Yes, please, let us know if you do work out the quantity, perhaps I could then add it to the pattern. :-)Frivolehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10318670621310820581noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6114660986925655424.post-13420924052793211572014-02-10T16:41:47.296+00:002014-02-10T16:41:47.296+00:00Hi Fox, yes, I agree. I hesitated to put it into the post but I think this thread is definitely Karey Solomonish! :-)Frivolehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10318670621310820581noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6114660986925655424.post-66915110639174656082014-02-10T16:15:34.529+00:002014-02-10T16:15:34.529+00:00LOL! Over the years, I have become less obsessed with knowing exact thread quantity requirements but, I do generally note the amounts for small motifs, because it makes it easier to use up what is left over on the shuttles. In the early days, I used to count stitches and rings and do complex calculations, before even loading the shuttles!

Since I asked the question, I have been trying to visualize the printed page with my notes on it. It's been a couple of years since I tatted the heart, so it is not coming into focus all that well. My 'little voice' seems to think it is 1.5 yds., or perhaps one wingspan (a unit of measurement I use a lot because I don't have to go looking for a measuring device). Seems rather a lot for a tiny heart, but it is a place to start! I'll get back to you when I do have an exact quantity - somebody else might want to know.

Have a lovely week!Suzannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06995456961674323818noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6114660986925655424.post-8976448396071605802014-02-10T16:12:25.722+00:002014-02-10T16:12:25.722+00:00That thread is lovely! My notes as to thread requirements are on the printed copy of the pattern, which is in Idaho. Did you happen to note how much thread you used (approximately, is good enough)?
