WIP - Jan Stawasz

I just found this at the bottom of a bag!  I'd forgotten it to be honest, and never finished it.  I love this small doily by Jan Stawasz from his book:  Tatted Treasures.  I made it once in dark green several years ago (click here if you'd like to see the green version).

It's a bit of shame that Jan Stawasz didn't name most of his projects.  This one is just called "Doily XIV".  It makes it more difficult to refer to his designs; it would be more memorable to say it's his "Daisy Doily" or something similar.

Anyway, I'm well on the way to finishing it now.  I hope I don't run out of thread on my shuttles... because I can't remember which thread I used!  It's definitely not my usual Lizbeth 20 as it is finer... but which one is it?

Best wishes,
Frivole

  2. So elegant!!! :)
I would call it the Tiara doily because all the points look like tiaras to me. ;)

  3. It’s really beautiful, I think you are allowed to name your creations even if JS didn’t name the pattern.

    1. Thanks Michelle, I didn't mean for me to name it... just that it's a shame his beautiful designs do not have names. I also think that "Monster Doily" as one of his large doilies has become known is not a very pretty name for such a lovely creation. :-)

  4. I do remember the green one! I also hope you have enough thread to finish this. I understand the difficulty of naming things. I even had a hard time naming my children! ;-)

I agree with you about the "Monster Doily." It's such a horrible name. I much preferred "Masterpiece Doily." It was definitely a masterpiece for me!

    1. Totally agree with you Diane, "Masterpiece Doily" is definitely much more befitting! In fact, it reminds me it's one I've yet to tackle myself! Well done for completing it. :-)
